Tips for CSCB Website Users
Tip # 3: Searching the Site
To maximize the extent of your search, it is strongly recommended that you always log in before searching the site. You can then search the website in two ways:
1. For the most comprehensive search of articles, government notices/directives, advocacy pieces or any specific information that may be published on the site:
a) click on “Trade News Library” at the bottom centre of the homepage
b) on the resulting page, choose a category from the drop-down menu (optional)
c) type in any key word(s), in this example we have typed in “wheat”
d) if you have a date or range of dates in which you would like to search, use the “Article Date” field to choose it(them). A pop-up calendar will aid you in correctly formatting the date
Results: After using “wheat” as our key word, we are returned a list of articles to choose from (here are the first 5 articles that resulted from this search)
- May 20 2011 :
End may be near for wheat board fight
- May 13 2011 :
U.S. agriculture exports reach $75 billion
- May 5 2011 :
- May 4 2011 :
Expect Wheat Board changes: vote winners
- Apr 14 2011 :
Canada Gazette Official Regulations
2. Looking for general information
a) use “Search” box at the top right of the homepage
b) type in the subject of the information you are looking for, for example if you wanted information about courses in the CSCB, type in “courses”.
Remember: Log in before searching to get the best results!
Tip #2: Tools for MOU Administrators
Are you administering the MOU program on behalf of the CCS Designates in your company? We have developed a new tool to assist you! Enhanced functionality on new.cscb.ca means you no longer need to keep manual lists or request points reports. Instead, follow these easy steps:
1. Log on to the website
2. Click on the "Check MOU List" link in the "MOU Management" box on the right hand side of your screen. This will take you to a current list of all employees in your MOU program, and show you how many points they have accumulated to date.
If you see a name that doesn't belong on your list, for instance an employee who has left your company, just click the box beside their name and hit the "Remove Contact From MOU" button located at the bottom of your list.
If you wish to add an employee to your list, pease contact us and we will be very happy to set it up for you.
It's as easy as that!
Tip #1: Inability to Log in due to password failure
When you want to log in, the website recognizes you regardless of the login portal (CCS Designates, Customs Broker Members, Associate members or Students) through which you enter. However, if after trying to log in, the returned page has the username box highlighted in red, this means that there is an error associated with your username and/or password.
Follow these steps to regain authorized access to the website:
1. On the login page, click 'request new password' (do NOT enter your username first)
2. Enter your username or email address associated with your CSCB account in the field then provided, and click 'Email me to reset my password'.
3. Check your email and open the 'Replacement Login Information...' email
4. In the email, click on the one-time login link
5. After clicking on the link you will come to a page with a Login button. Click that button.
6. This will bring you to your account edit page where you can enter a new password
7. Enter a new password of your choosing, confirm that password and SAVE, using the button near the bottom of the screen. Please record your new password in a secure place for future use.
8. At this point, you will be logged in and you will have access to all content and functionality for which you have been authorized.
IF THIS PROBELM PERSISTS it could be that you have a bad cookie on your computer that is preventing the login from working properly. Please try clearing your cookies to see if this resolves the issue. Attached is a link to a tutorial to assist you with this process.
